fortune cookies

True story: On the second day I moved to Ithaca, a friend of my great aunt (my late great uncle used to teach at Cornell) took my parents and me to this Chinese buffet for lunch and I got a fortune cookie.  The fortune said something to the affect of "You have gained wisdom today and you are also less anxious."  So I was like cool... this is true... I'm beginning to feel okay being here and having walked through campus and gettin' a feel for where things are helped make me less anxious.  And then I turn it over and it was one of those "learn a Chinese phrase" things and it said, "nan peng you."  (Which means "boyfriend" in Mandarin.)  I laughed and thought, "GOD HAS SPOKEN.  This is why I'm at Cornell."  :oP


Following that one... I got ones that said, "has money," "he," etc.  So it became this joke that fortune cookies would reveal my love life to me.  :-P  I guess it kinda worked out in the favor of the fortune cookies.  At least the relevant ones.  haha.


Since it was sort of an inside joke... I thought if we were going to have escort cards, to have these!

We could use whatever paper we wanted.  It could match our color scheme.  The little paper ends sticking out would have the guests' name and table number.  Easy peasy.  And while pretty paper is not cheap, it wasn't going to be an expensive project!

However I put it on the back burner and... it stayed there since I decided escort cards were time consuming and they weren't going to get a piece of my time-pie!  Also -- since it is just paper, even pretty paper, it's not something people would take with them or value/treasure really.  Unless... you like pretty paper or like to collect stuff with your name on it.  So I took the less exciting route and printed out an alphabetical list with people's names and table numbers  :]

Maybe someday if I ever help someone plan a wedding and they're looking for escort card ideas, I'll bust this one out.  :]

I forgot to post about this earlier.  That's happened with a lot of things.  :oP

Here I talked what kind of shoes I was looking for and here I talked about wanting orange shoes.  :]  Well, the whole pretty satin orange shoes with not too much heel and the right amount of bling didn't quite pan out.  But it's okay.  I probably would not have worn the orange bling shoes again very often and... that seems to be the case for the ones that I got, so it's all the same.  :-P

So under the advice of a few people that DSW changes their shoe selection often, I went back to see if they had better selections.

I again found the Caparros Armani 2 Satin in silver that I saw last time.  I think I might've tried it on again and liked the height of the heel.  So I went online to DSW and looked for them in white!  And they had them!  So I ordered them and they arrived at my house.

I got my satin, a little bit of bling, and a very good height on the heels.  And.  No one will care they're not orange except for me.  Well, except my mom.  She didn't like the orange heels idea.  :-P

Too bad they weren't cheaper since they're sitting in their box back home, 3000 miles away.  Perhaps when I visit, I can bring them and maybe find a use for them.  Wear them around the house?  :oP

I thought that was a pretty nifty way to do the bridal party/ceremony participants/parents and grandparents list!  And... it's something I'd totally do.  haha.  Our save-the-dates kind of looked like theirs too!  If I had seen this earlier (like waaay early in the planning process) there might have been a chance I would want to do that too.  :-P   But then after doing a few faces, I might have also realized I didn't want to spend the time actually making everyone's faces.  :-P
                                                      

1 month!

Hey guess what?!  It's our....

What felt like quite early this morning, Tim turns over and goes, "Babe!"  While still in a very sleepy state, I managed a "Hmm?" and he then says, "If I got the date right, we've been married a month!"  :-D  I think I managed a grunt in agreement, and then we fell asleep again.  It made me quite happy he remembered.  :]  I think he also talked about how long this month felt, but in a good way.  :-P  Mostly about just all the stuff we did, including all the traveling!

It has been a crazy month and it has gone by relatively "slowly."  Which is good I guess.  :]  It's been really nice to see Tim on a daily basis.  We're kind of in the middle of transitioning so... it really kinda feels like summer vacation.  We are really blessed by this time of rest and enjoying each other and free time and getting enough sleep!  I guess more so for Tim, since I had a lot of this "free time" last year.  :oP  But we should start packing and it will get pretty hectic near the end of July when the moving begins and his job starting right away!  Eeps!  But we know God is faithful and He will see us through all of it!  He already has with the apartment we found!  :-D

    

     PS.  I promise I will only take note of our first month anniversary, and not every month thereafter.  At least not publicly.  :oP
