the bling

So. My ring has never made an appearance online. Many pictuers have been taken of it... but I, thus far, have kept the most expensive thing I own under the online radar. But now! Now. It shall be revealed. :-P Well, maybe in segments since it's had soooo many photoshoots... this post would be too long to post them all!

Oh. And if anyone knows how to "zip" posts in blogger... please let me know.

ROUND ONE!!!  :: dingdingding!!! ::

While I do not own a bank camera, the orginals look better than this slight hazy mess blogger makes them out to be... but you get the jist of it  :)

cute little people

Who doesn't want little people with adorable short arms and legs all dressed up in their wedding?! I had my turn as a flower girl in my day. 4 times in fact! And one time as a junior bridesmaid... but that was for my uncle so I don't know if that counts. I would post some pictures but I can't seem to find them! :(

HOW. ADORABLE. :D Like little angels.  (Source)

I would totally give a ring bearer a little mohawk :D  (Source)

BUT...

I don't think/know we'll be having cute little people in our wedding. :( At least... not as of now. The closest little kid in our families is still in the tummy! And I'll reckon it won't be walking as a 4 month old in May. And... Tim hasn't mentioned anyone else.... and there are no little kids on my side of the family. There are some little kids from church I've thought of... but I don't know.... so I'll contemplate a little more... I don't think we're in a hurry to figure this out.  And I suppose I'd be okay with not having any cute little people in our wedding.  :oT

asking the BMs

So I didn't know that people went through so much trouble to ask their friends/sisters/relatives to be their bridesmaids until I started reading Weddingbee! They make them cards or scrapbooks. There are some crazy things out there. I wanted to partake in that since I love crafts. Especially making cards! But after awhile... the thought of going through the motions and gathering the supplies and how... they (the bridesmaids) might not even care I spent so much time on a card. :-P And so... I asked them all in person or by phone (except for Steph I guess, who got the card-I-will-mention-in-a-second first). Then when I went to the Union Street Bridal Walk... I got a swag bag from Bella-something that had a bunch of stuff and one of those things was... a pack of "Will you be my bridesmaid?" cards from some store called and something blue. Woot! Score! Now I don't even have to make them. haha. There were 5 and I only needed three. (So if you're having only two bridesmaids and want my two extra cards, let me know!)

It says, "Will You Be My Bridesmaid?" on top and "I promise not to make you wear an ugly dress..." on the bottom.

I also personalized it "a bit" by coloring in the dress (light green) and flowers (orange) with some colored pencils. Which didn't go so well with the glossy top... but there was just enough for a hint of color. :)

to see or not to see...

So. I've worn glasses since I was 4 years old. Come wedding time, that's a good twenty years! I had a brief stint with contacts in high school. They were soft lens and for some reason would dry out within a half hour of when I put them on. And the eye doc's recommendation was to take them out to moisten (not putting eye drops in). I can't take them out to moisten every 15 minutes all day long! So... I gave up on them. Even though they were kind of expensive. :(

But. Here comes one of the most memorable days of my life and I want contacts! Ok not really, but for pictures and ease of moving my head around, I do. I'm a sweater (another topic for another day) and it being an outdoor wedding (though in the late afternoon), I don't know... if I'll get sweaty and my glasses will start slipping down my nose... and if I'll have a free hand to push them back up. As if I wasn't dorky looking enough. Tim says he likes me in glasses, but I can do whatever I feel comfortable with.

So. I don't know. I think. If I get on it and get contacts like... now. Then everyone, including Tim... and myself, will get use to Alvina with small especially-squinty-when-she-smiles eyes... and it won't seem to weird. Hm. That sounds like a plan.

Though here are some pics of some brides rocking glasses. I think you have to be a certain kind of person... or just look super cute with them to pull it off....

Mrs. Candy Corn has that cute bob hair thing going with those glasses.  (Source)

I think she's just pretty... and can make the glasses (or anything for that matter) work.  (Source)

So. Contacts or glasses??

side note!

I read WeddingBee pretty religiously.  Not as much as I check Facebook, but still it's part of the daily routine.  Like reading the news.  I get a lot of inspiration from there.  So there will be lots of references to Mrs. Inanimate object/Food item/Animal/Insect/etc.  Hopefully I've sourced my links and photos well enough that you can read more about stuff if you're interested or curious.... or just confused.  :)

Second!  If you haven't figured it out already.  It's really the adventures of wedding planning by Alvina.  :-P  Perhaps someday before the wedding, I can wrangle a post from the groom-to-be himself  )

And!  We've been engaged for 100 days!!!!  hahah.  Whoo.  :)

smell the roses!

I have a ton of bookmarked links on flowers. :) But here are a few I like! I figure pictures are sometimes more fun than words.

Mrs. Lovebird from WeddingBee's bouquet!  Love the color mix of orange with other colors.  Though I'd want shorter stems though.  (Source)

I like the orange bouquets!  Good mix of colors.  Not sure about the green stuff underneath... maybe some other kind of green, that is darker.  (Source)
[PS - This photographer's photos are like from a magazine! And with starting packages at $7500 to show for it!]

I've ben torn between having a mostly white bouquet and an orange one... but this one has the white (in a nice spherical shape) and a wee bit of color!  (Source)

This one has the white flowers but also different shades of color PLUS green things that give it a lot of character and texture.  But of course, it'd be in shades of orange.  :)  (Source)

Love love love this boutinniere!!  So cute.  (Source)
